Since June 2023, I (Sandra) have been sending $18 a week to my team in Bogota to kickstart our nonprofit organization. In addition to my contributions, we have received generous donations from friends and family members. With these funds, we have ventured out to help homeless individuals, including numerous Venezuelan refugees. Through our efforts, we have observed a distressing reality - many children remain on the streets after school, while older adults find it challenging to contribute to their families, and single mothers face significant struggles.

Driven by a desire to make a positive impact, we have taken decisive action. We have been using the community center, where, with the assistance of Willington, we gather children on Saturday mornings for educational games. Our aim is to provide them with engaging activities that keep them away from the streets. We provide snacks to keep them coming. However, to transform our ideas into reality, we require additional funds.

In addition to supporting the children, we have also extended our efforts to the elderly in our community. Recognizing their desire to feel needed and to contribute to their families, we partnered with the Catalina Munoz Foundation in Bogota, which provided us with materials to create bracelets. These bracelets, crafted by our elderly members, are then sold on the streets as a means of generating income.

Likewise, we have not overlooked the challenges faced by single mothers. Childcare is nearly impossible in their dire living conditions, making it difficult for them to find employment while caring for their children. We invite you to explore the stories of these resilient mothers on our social media platforms. They, too, are involved in bracelet-making, offering them a source of income. Our long-term vision includes exporting these bracelets to the United States, raising awareness about the daily struggles endured by Venezuelan refugees and individuals living on the streets in my old neighborhood.

Although our project is a work in progress, we are already witnessing positive outcomes. The children eagerly anticipate Saturday mornings, finding joy and enrichment in our activities. The elderly are making meaningful contributions to their families, and our single mothers have a supportive space to create bracelets and generate income. We remain committed to expanding and strengthening our initiatives, ensuring a brighter future for those in need.

Please consider making a donation today to support our efforts in providing education to children, creating sustainable income opportunities for elderly individuals, and empowering single mothers in need.
